The Spinney Brothers have made a resurgence in the past couple of years, returning to the stage and doing what they love most, Entertaining!! With their Traditional style of Bluegrass, Bluegrass Gospel and Classic Country music, they continue to deliver the “real deal” when it comes to these genres of music!
Raised in the Annapolis Valley, Brothers Allan and Rick honed their brother duet style of singing and playing by listening to the great sounds of The Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin and Mac Wiseman just to name a few! They give great thanks to long time “Bluegrass Express” host, musician and radio DJ, Gordon Stobbe. Gordon provided years of learning material for The Spinney Brothers.
The other two members that intricately make up this four piece band are Gary Dalrymple on mandolin and Terry Mumford on bass! Gary is a 36 year band member and has played a vital role in the success of the Spinney Brothers 8 years as a full time touring act. Gary has contributed to the band in nearly every facet imaginable and truly considered by brothers Allan and Rick as “our brother from another mother”! Terry Mumford holds tight to the all import back beat on the bass, and you always know with Terry when the music is grooving, his eyes close, he sways from side to side and you can see the grin from ear to ear….Terry has spent many years with the band also and has travelled to some incredible shows (IBMA in Nashville, TN, Ohio, Missouri, Boston, Alberta, BC, the Yukon to name a few!
The Spinney Brothers are excited to be coming back to Prince Edward Island but even more so, to be part of the stage acts at the Evangeline Bluegrass and Traditional Music Festival on July 11 & 12 2026.
